Holly has decorated homes in midwinter for centuries, and here it wraps around a mandala like a living wreath. The center is a layered flower of rounded and pointed petals, ringed by a circle of beads. Around it runs a wide band of twenty-four spiky holly leaves, each with a midrib and side veins, gathered in sprigs with clusters of round berries. Outside the holly you will find a ring of little stars, layered scallops, a band of teardrops and an outer edge of fine panels, and each corner of the page holds its own holly sprig on a fan. With 370 regions this is a detailed mandala that still feels calm, because everything repeats twelve times around the circle. Coloring tips

Color the holly leaves in two greens, darker on one half of each leaf and lighter on the other, so the midribs look raised. Keep the berries a bright cranberry red and add a tiny white highlight by leaving a sliver uncolored. Soft gold on the star ring and a deep green or burgundy on the outer panels frame the wreath nicely.
