About this geometric pattern coloring page
Tumbling blocks is a classic optical illusion and a favorite in patchwork quilting. Every hexagon is split into three diamonds, and when you shade those diamonds light, medium and dark the flat grid suddenly looks like a stack of cubes. This version has 228 regions, all identical diamonds, so it is a relaxing medium-length page. It is a great way to learn how value, meaning how light or dark a color is, matters more than the hue itself. Once the 3D effect appears it is surprisingly hard to stop coloring, and the finished page looks great printed.

Coloring tips
The trick is consistency: give every top diamond the lightest color, every left diamond the medium and every right diamond the darkest. Any three values of one hue work, and so do three completely different colors as long as their lightness differs. Use the eyedropper to keep the three shades exact across the page.
