About this mandala coloring page
This flower mandala opens like a blossom seen from directly above. At the center sits a twelve-petal rosette, wrapped in a double layer of lotus petals that overlap like real flower heads. Around that you will find a ring of small dots, a band of pointed petals with inner outlines, a zigzag crown, scalloped arches and finally a border of little teardrops. In total there are 234 regions arranged in twelvefold symmetry, which puts it comfortably in the medium range: detailed enough to absorb you for an hour or so, but never fiddly. The overlapping lotus layer is the star of the page, because it lets you shade the back petals darker than the front ones and create real depth.

Coloring tips
Color the back layer of lotus petals one step darker than the front layer and the flower will instantly look three-dimensional. Greens work well for the pointed petals, like leaves peeking out, while pinks or corals suit the inner rosette. Use the gradient mode on the larger petals for a soft, watercolor-like fade from the center outward.
