About this geometric pattern coloring page
This pattern borrows from traditional tiled floors and walls, where stars and crosses interlock across a surface. Every eight-point star is made of two overlapping squares, one turned on its point, with a small octagon at its heart, and the stars touch tip to tip so cross-shaped spaces open up between them. The grid has 300 regions, one of the busiest medium pages, with a strong architectural feel. Most shapes are triangles and small polygons, so the pattern looks very different depending on which shapes you group by color: highlight the octagons and you see medallions, highlight the gaps and a lattice of crosses appears. It is a rewarding page for anyone who likes Moroccan, Spanish or Middle Eastern tile work.

Coloring tips
Decide which shape is the hero before you start: octagons, crosses or the squares between them. Color the hero shapes in your strongest color, then use two quieter tones for the rest. Terracotta, cobalt and cream give a sunny Mediterranean look; deep teal and gold feel richer and more formal.
