About this floral coloring page

The poinsettia is the flower of the holiday season, and this page gives it room to shine. A single large bloom fills the center. Its pointed bracts (the colored leaves most people think of as petals) are arranged in two overlapping layers, each with a clear center vein and angled side veins. At the heart sits a cluster of small round buds, the poinsettia's actual flowers. Green leaves peek out between the outer bracts, and a ring of background rays inside a large circle frames the whole page. With 168 regions it's a medium-level design: the shapes are generous, but there are enough veins to make careful shading worth it. Red is traditional, but poinsettias also come in cream, pink, salmon and marbled varieties, so there's plenty of room to make this one your own.

Coloring tips

Shade the back layer of bracts one step darker than the front layer, and the flower will look three-dimensional. Color the vein sections in two close shades for a velvet texture. Gold or pale yellow works best for the bud cluster. For a modern take, try blush pink and sage green on a cream background.

Frequently asked questions

Are poinsettia petals really leaves?

Yes. The colored parts are bracts, which are modified leaves. The true flowers are the small buds in the center, which is why this page draws them as a separate cluster.

What colors do poinsettias come in?

Red is the most common. Growers also sell white, cream, pink, salmon and marbled types, so any of those is a realistic choice for this page.

Is it free?

Yes. Every coloring page on colorpaint is free to color online, download as a PNG or print for personal use. There is nothing to buy and no trial.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up. Your coloring is saved only in your own browser, so you can close the page and pick up where you left off on the same device.

Can I print it?

Yes. Use the Print button to print the blank line art or your colored version, or download a high-resolution PNG and print it at home on letter or A4 paper.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The coloring tool works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Tap a shape to fill it, pinch to zoom on small details, and undo any tap.
