About this mandala coloring page
Three stacked rings of lotus petals give this mandala a layered, unfolding quality, as if the flower were opening one tier at a time. Ten petals form the inner bloom, then twenty more spread around it, each ring partly hidden behind the one in front. A band of dots separates the layers, and a fine scalloped edge closes the circle. The design has 280 regions and tenfold symmetry, and because so many petals overlap, it rewards slow, careful shading more than speed. It is a lovely page for a quiet evening: repetitive enough to be meditative, with enough variation between the rings to keep you interested from the first petal to the last.

Coloring tips
Pick one hue and move from light at the center to deep at the edge, so the lotus seems to glow from within. Purples and soft blues give a calm, twilight feeling; corals and golds feel more like sunrise. Leave the dot ring white or very pale to give the eye a resting place between the busier petal layers.
